Michael Jordan Top 50 all Time Plays

One of the biggest names to use sport hypnotherapy is Michael Jordan.

This basketball star used hypnotherapy before every game to improve his mental stamina.

The Chicago Bulls - Coach Phil Jackson - Michael Jordan
Phil Jackson (NBA head coach) insists that the Chicago Bulls practiced daily self-hypnosis when he coached Michael Jordan and the Bulls to their 6 NBA Championships.

Well maybe it was a fluke and all down to Michael Jordan with or without hypnosis? Or maybe not as coach Phil Jackson went on to coach the LA Lakers and NBA greats Shaq O'Neal and Kobe Bryant to another 5 NBA championship titles in 10 years using self-hypnosis and visualisation each morning giving the players the belief that they could win.

Later, after coaching the Los Angeles Lakers to a win in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals in 2002, Jackson credited his morning practice of self-hypnosis, meditation, and visualization with giving the Lakers the belief that they could win.

The Power of Words

"I once read that a word is like a living organism, capable of growing, changing, spreading, and influencing the world in many ways, directly and indirectly through others. I never thought about a word being 'alive' but then I thought of words spoken 3,000 years ago, written down and passed through many generations, and they seem quite alive when read or spoken today, having lived 3,000 years. As I ponder the power of the word to incite and divide, to calm and connect, or to create and effect change, I am ever more cautious in what I say and how I listen to the words around me."

The Law of Attraction, 12-Steps and Cancer: How do they all fit?

Currently I am working on Self-Hypnosis recording to aid in the healing of Cancer.
Within the next few weeks a featured 'free' recording for 'Finding Hope in Cancer' will be available at www.settingthemfree.org.

(Setting Them Free is a 501(c)(3) non-profit cancer foundation that is Dedicated to Helping Cancer Patients  by providing fundraising assistance and education to pay for cancer treatment and treatment related expenses.)

The Law of Attraction, 12-Steps and Cancer: How do they all fit?
I recently found a great inspirational blog for cancer thrivers (fighters) by Tami Boehmer.
Tami Boehmer is a cancer survivor and a great lady. Here is a quote from her website:
"I feel as if I’m fulfilling God’s purpose for me through this work. It has taught me cancer doesn’t have to be a death sentence. Like the people I’ve interviewed, cancer for me was the beginning of a new way of life; one of appreciation, hope, and discovering one’s potential."

One of Tami's blogs is about how the following all fit together: the Law of Attraction, 12-Steps and Cancer.
I share this link here because hypnotherapy helps supercharge the Law of Attraction; and many have found hypnotherapy to be complimentary to 12-Step Programs.

Top Celebrities Who Love Hypnotherapy

Ever since Matt Damon went on national TV and told Jay Leno that using hypnosis was "the greatest decision I ever made in my life" it seems that everyone in Hollywood is now trying hypnosis.
Everyone from Orlando Bloom to Ellen DeGeneres and even David Beckham have used hypnosis, and the variety of issues they have used it for are as diverse as you could imagine.

So, here is a big list of celebrities who have used hypnosis at some point in their lives to help them to overcome their bad habits and personal problems or to eliminate their limitations and become massively successful.
Hyposis isn't the underground therapy it was 20 years ago... hypnosis is becoming cool!
Tiger Woods (golf pro): Has famously used hypnosis ever since he was a child. He used a mixture of hypnosis, nap, and visualization to help him to focus and improve his concentration and "get into the zone".. as one of the highest paid sports stars and most successful golfers ever.

Matt Damon (actor): Matt proclaimed his love for hypnosis live on TV, stating that it was “the greatest decision I ever made in my life.” This was to Jay Leno, and he was referring to using hypnosis to stop smoking.

Kevin Costner (actor): Had his own private hypnotist flown out to Hawaii (while he was filming Waterworld) to cure him of his sea-sickness which was plaguing his filming schedule - from then onwards Kevin was fine in the water.

Drew Barrymore (celebrity): Drew had described herself as a “smokaholic” but finally decided to quit smoking. Th star claims to have found a “balance” in her life with the help of hypnosis.

Ashton Kutcher (actor): Aston is a big fan of hypnosis, using it for various issues that we know of. Firstly he used it when he first got into acting to help him to focus, and to visualize his own success and stardom.. More recently he used hypnosis to stop smoking, and yes, he did successfully quit.

Ellen DeGeneres (celebrity): Ellen underwent hypnosis live on her tv chat show, and used it's power to successfully stop smoking.

Orlando Bloom (actor): Orlando used hypnosis as a child. His mother took him to see a hypnotist to help him to overcome his addiction to chocolate and also to help him to lose weight and get into shape

Albert Einstein (physicist): The legendary physicist regularly used it to help him to develop his ideas. Some claim that the theory of relativity came to him during one of his sessions.

Steve Hooker (athlete): Won a Gold Medal at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games in the Pole Vault. He puts his success down to not only his dedicated training routines and high ambitions, but also thanks hypnosis for helping him to visualize his success time and time again so that he felt completely comfortable, and "at home" on the day.

Martha Stewart (Domestic Diva): Martha Stewart used hypnosis and stopped her nightmares of jail.

Lily Allen (singer): Another celeb (Lily is a singer from the UK) who used weight loss hypnosis successfully - she lost so much weight she dropped 3 dress sizes.

Kevin McBride (boxer): Listens to his hypnosis sessions before every (boxing) fight. He claims this gets him into a positive and focused state of mind and focuses him on winning.

Jack Nicklaus (professional golfer): He LOVES hypnosis! Jack isn't shy about his passion for hypnosis and enhancing his mind. He uses it to improve his concentration during golf games.

Sophie Dahl (model): Sophie was a "plus sized" model from England. After a change of heart she dropped a huge amount of weight with help from hypnosis for weight loss and managed to keep the weight off as 10 years later she is still a size 8 dress size!

David Beckham (soccer pro): Visited a hypnotist privately to help him to confront some of his personal issues - the rest, we don't know :)

Jackie Kennedy (First Lady): Took private sessions with a hypno-therapist to help her get over the tragic death of her husband.

Lord Tennyson Alfred (poet): Lord Tennyson was a famous poet in his time and it is said he wrote entire poems while under the influence of hypnosis - again tapping into his creative side.

Ben Affleck (actor): Used hypnotherapy to successfully quite smoking. Ben was quoted as saying: "I feel a huge difference in my health now that I don't smoke. I feel like I'm in better shape than I was five years ago."

Geri Halliwell (singer): The ex-spice girl again adds to the numbers of Celebs who used hypnotherapy to lose weight and get fit.

Aaron Eckhart (actor): Listened to hypnotherapy tapes to help him to beat smoking and alcohol addictions - later stating in an interview that "it changed his life forever."

"Fergie" Stacy Ann Ferguson (actor): Fergie has stated in several interview that she is an avid user of hypnotherapy, which she used to overcome her crystal meth addiction, quit biting her nails and to relax.

How Hypnosis Can Be An Acceptable Therapeutic Option for LDS Members:

How Hypnosis Can Be An Acceptable Therapeutic Option for LDS Members:

There is some confusion amongst LDS members about hypnosis.

The LDS church quotes below (and their accompanying articles) clarify
that hypnosis is not to be used for entertainment purposes (often called “stage hypnosis”),
but it can be acceptable, helpful, and effective when conducted for therapeutic purposes
by competent, well-trained professionals (called “medical/clinical hypnosis”).

Accordingly, the following quotes clarify the LDS church’s position on using hypnosis for therapeutic purposes:

The use of hypnosis under competent, professional medical supervision for the treatment of diseases or mental disorders is a medical question to be determined by competent medical authorities. Members should not participate in hypnosis for purposes of demonstration or entertainment.”

--Selected Church Policies #21.3.5
Handbook 2: Administering the Church

“Hypnosis is a powerful force and in my opinion should be employed only by the best-trained and most ethical professionals for very important reasons.”
--Joe J. Christensen

Hypnotherapy = Pondering and Meditation

I may not personally agree with everything in the following article.
What I definitely agree with though is that Hypnotherapy can be a form of Pondering and Meditation.

Christian Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy = Pondering and Meditation

This Blog is to discuss Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy from a Christian viewpoint, as well as the traditional clinical views. I want to promote an understanding of Pondering and Meditation (Scriptural terms for what the world is calling hypnosis and hypnotherapy) as our natural God given spiritual gifts of mental trance states, in which we can more fully connect to the divine within each of us, known as our Spirit, Intelligence, and Conscience
